2. Sandbox got selected to perform on the Fuller Stage this year at Make Music Pasadena. MMP is June 1st, and is an all day event, free of charge with about a million stages, 10 million bands, and truly a great modge podge of the best and brightest in the LA music scene. We're truly honored and STOKED to be a part of this event!

That's all for now folks! Check in with us as updates and rough song sketches are posted throughout the Summer!

Phew!!! Deep Breath, Rinse & Repeat... THIS FRIDAY!

My Goodness!

How quick time can fly when you're in the van! SXSW and the Spring Tour was over as quickly as it came upon us. After an amazing 5 days in Austin and another few weeks on the road, Sandbox is back home in the good old City of Angels!! And as if we even wanted time to unpack and do laundry, we're already back at it here in town for a welcome home show THIS FRIDAY March 29th @ El Cid. Sangria, Tapas, and Sandbox! Delicioso! Truly, this is going to be a can't miss lineup with the likes of Polybuzz, Raw Geronimo, and Hobart W Fink. I'm glad I'm getting to attend let alone PLAY this gig, because I'd be there regardless! Doors are at 830pm and it's a $10 cover charge BUT, you'll get a free copy of "Me & Him and Horse" with that admission, so if you don't have it yet, come by our merch table, well, hahaha, I say table, but come by our merch suitcase and cash in your cover charge chips!!! Details and more on the handy, dandy, fancy shmansy flyer pictured below compliments of Michael McCarthy Presents and All Scene Eye! To them do we owe the debt of gratitude, Kudos bars, and tips of the cap for giving us the chance to play on this awesome bill with these great bands!

Sandbox THIS FRIDAY @ El Cid, Go Tell It On the Mountain!!!!

Show THIS Monday, SXSW, and Nick Tracz added to Our Lineup!

Fun, Fun, Fun! That's what i've got to report here from the Dexter Kill Room that is my place in DTLA! First off, this Monday Feb. 25th we are one of a handful of awesome bands doing our part to give the Wires In the Walls a good send off at their last night of Residency at the Silverlake Lounge. Like all residencies around town, that's a FREE SHOW! Free music, cheap drinks, no better way to spend a Monday! Doors open @ 8pm, we kick off the jams at 830.

You might notice a tall, distinguished looking gentleman up there. Up where? Scroll back up, little more, bam! There ya go! See now? That is Nick Tracz and he is going to slappin' da bass for Sandbox. We hope he's the cure for our equivalent of Spinal Tap's drumming woes. And we think he will be, considering he starts out each rehearsal with "Big Bottoms."

Lastly, the final details for our Spring tour are flying in, but be sure to keep updated with our Tour Dates Page for all the updates on route and whatnot. We are proud to say that we are truly making the most of Austin this year, performing at 4 different showcases from March 13th-16th. Woo hoo! Time to get the van tuned up, as Larry David would say, I've gotta find someone whoo works at that place with the damn car horn honking in the commercials, AA-MCO!

So much new news!!!!

So much stuff to report on the Sandbox front!

First things first: Sandbox has been nominated for a number of things at this years SPC Awards including: Artist of the Year, Best Lyrical Content and Song of the Year for "Streetlights," Hip Hop Song of the Year for "Holly Would," and our very own Daniel Rodriguez has been nominated for Drummer of the Year! We do need fan votes though as they make up about 25% of the credentials needed to win, so if you've got a minute go ahead and visit http://voting.spcawards.com and cast your votes for Sandbox! The SPC Awards are being held Sept. 15th, 2012 in Los Angeles and attendance is open to the public, you can get your tickets for $15 at www.spcawards.com and be sure act quickly as it is expected to sell out! Sandbox will be performing that night in addition to many other great bands and artists and as always we'd greatly appreciate the support!

On to more normal business now, we have a few local shows here in LA before we head out for our 3 week Fall tour! We are super excited and honored to be playing on a couple great bills in September with bands who we deem to be great friends first and foremost, in addition to be awesome bands and performers. September 8th we are playing The Joint with LA based Macedo. Doors are at 7pm with the bands starting at 8pm. $10 21+. Visit www.thejointlive.com for full details.

Our Bon Voyage show before tour is Sept. 20th at the Silverlake Lounge at 2906 Sunset Blvd. LA, CA 90026. This is a show we couldn't be more stoked about! A stacked lineup consisting of:

8pm Macedo

9pm- Wires in the Walls

10pm- Sandbox

11pm- Burning Jet Black

We are so honored to be playing under the lights of "Salvation" at the Lounge and would love to see as many friendly faces as possible come out to send us off into the wilderness of Fall tour. As always the Lounge is a great place to see indie bands pour themselves out as the bartenders pour drinks on the cheap! 21+ Doors at 7pm $6.

And last but not least, we are proud to welcome Bronco Ben Shea to the Sandbox crew as he takes up bass playing duties after we had to say goodbye and good luck to Kevin McPherson as he has been added to the Atlas Genius lineup and will be touring the world over the next few months. As sad as we were to see a great bassist and better friend go in McP, we are equally excited about adding Bronco to the group and we should have new photos and whatnot up in the next few weeks so you can all get a look at this new raggedy group of musicians!

Me & Him and Horse Reviewed by Music Connection

Check out the Music Connection review of "Me & Him and Horse" at http://musicconnection.com/digital/index.php?page=55. Embedded below is the text but be sure to visit the site for full details!

"Fringe Fest vet Shane Sweet spearheads Sandbox, playing most of the instruments, and he cleverly gets the most out of basic musicianship. Sweet, whose "Speakeasy" project has recreated '20's era clubs, here affects a strangled, nasally vocal persona on his mildly hooky material. "Tried and Tried" reminds us of a stripped down Arcade Fire. "Doesn't Really Matter" employs a plinking piano in another low-key arrangement that allows the drama to build. While Sweet's voice is not for everyone, his alt-vision is consistently intriguing. "

A Little Sandbox-ian Press Release

THE BAND SANDBOX SET TO RELEASE “ME & HIM AND HORSE” (BRAINMUSCLEMEDIA) ON APRIL 3; GEARING UP FOR A WEST COAST TOUR, SANDBOX IS WORKING ON A VIDEO, IS PERFORMING IN LAS VEGAS’S INDIE MUSIC FEST BOTH NIGHTS (4/17 AND 4/18); IS PLAYING LA’S WORLDFEST IN MAY, THE LA MUSIC AND FILM FESTIVAL ON JUNE 16; AND JUST FINISHED TWO VERY SUCCESSFUL ART INSTALLATIONS CALLED “THE SPEAKEASY” AT THEIR DOWNTOWN LA WAREHOUSE

Los Angeles, CA:  Entrepreneur, artist and musician Shane Sweet and his band Sandbox will be releasing their album “Me and Him and Horse” on April 3, 2012 on BrainmuscleMedia. According to Shane, "’Me & Him and Horse’ abandoned all rules for making a record, such as style and structure and theme and intent. Each song is a stand-alone work of art, melded together only by their subconscious drive. It's a very eclectic, diverse record that dares to completely step out of the restrictions of genre.”

Sandbox is not another run-of-the-mill alternative rock band, and is a band to be watched, if only for its innovation and artistic approach to music and the world at large. Shane and Sandbox also regularly do Art Installations in his warehouse in downtown LA. The newest one is called “The Speakeasy,” to coincide with the new album. “The Art Installations began with a sense of dissatisfaction at shows. I would always go to shows, especially to those big stadium shows with big, famous, hugely budgeted bands and I was always left thinking, they could be doing so much more with that audience, they could be wowing people so much more. Night one of the two “Speakeasy” shows last month enticed over 350 people to attend, as Sandbox brought down the building and the event, literally, as the Fire Marshals showed up to let Sandbox know they'd need a shortened set or be given a $50,000 fine and be arrested. That being said Sandbox took the stage with a fire and energy unseen by them to date. Dancing and singing met with raw energy. On Night Two, another 300 people were on hand to take in Sandbox performing on the right side of the law this time, playing their full set, all tunes from "Me & Him and Horse." As chance would have it, the same Fire Marshals which closed the event early on Night One were impressed enough to attend Night Two! Burlesque performers set the tone for Sandbox to take the stage and deliver an energetic, fiery performance over their carefully crafted melodies.

Sandbox just played the Dizzy Rooster for Red Gorilla at SXSW to a packed, steaming crowd of revelers on March 17. Sandbox is embarking on a west coast tour kicking off April 14 in San Luis Obispo, and then plans to tour more in other states.  The band is doing a video for the first single, "Everybody" which is going to be released between the album and beginning of tour, and has gotten tons of college radio play all over the U.S. and some in Canada. Sandbox are performing at Indie Music Fest in Vegas both nights in primetime headlining slots, and are also set to play LA’s Worldfest in May and The Indie Music and Film Festival at the LA Convention Center on June 16. Additionally, Sandbox’s songs are under consideration for licensing for a bunch of films and TV shows. They’re vying for a lot on the Vans Warped Tour. Everybody- Song Review

Here's a review of Everybody that I thought it'd be fun to post!

"Everybody" in reminiscent and foretelling. It paints a film-esque picture of transitory emotions. "That we know what our faults are and somehow can't seem to kick them is frustrating. But we'll still try." The vocal delivery is honest and sincere while the blend of strings with a staccato feel creates a bittersweet mood. The orchestration of the song is unique and very well designed however, the vocal tracks could sit more up front. Having said that, they dynamics of the band are fantastic. It's obvious that they are familiar with each other's place and time. Overall, this is a fantastic track worthy of many listens!
